At the Historic Sportscar Racing's MCI WorldCom Walter Mitty Challenge,
Tampa's Craig Ross, driving an original '70 Boss Trans Am car finished in
the Top 10 for the weekend, despite still breaking in a new engine and
battling an overheating rear end.
An overflow crowd of competitors and dozens of classes competed at Road
Atlanta, including a new "Big-Bore Open Single Seaters" (BOSS) series
featuring Formula 1, Formula 3000, Formula 5000 and Indy cars.

Jack Lewis, driving a '69 Porsche 911, captured Friday's Klubsport Porsche
Challenge, nipping Dave White by just .006 seconds in a photo finish.


Saturday's Thundersport Cup Series race was taken by Jim Adams in a '91
Spice GTP car. In the Rolex Historic Enduro, Jim Mullen took the checkered
flag in a '92 Spice GTP with Adams finishing second.

In the Rolex Classic GT Enduro, Joe Hish piloted a '63 LaBoa Mk. II to
victory over the '72 Porsche 911 of Eric Bretzel in the 34-lap event.
Finally, John Harrold and Kevin Wheeler took the Rolex Vintage Enduro in
their '72 Porsche 914/6, with Lewis finishing second in his 911.
Dave Swigler's Lotus 70B F5000 car captured the all-Lotus dash race. In
Group 5, the '69 Brabham BT-30 of Dan Baker took top honors, while Walt
Bohren captured the Group 7 trophy in an '89 Cosworth Spice. Chevy muscle
outgunned Jaguar finesse in Group 6, with Harry Dinwiddie's '70 Corvette
staving off the E-Types of Trent Terry and Howard Turner.

The much-anticipated BOSS race was captured by Tom Calicchio in a '93 Lotus
107-B F1 car, with Ted Wenz in an '86 March Indy car finishing second.
American metal returned for the Group 9 race featuring historic stock cars,
with Darren Law taking the checkered flag at the wheel of a '93 Lumina.
Myron Greene and his '63 Ginetta G-4 captured Group 2, while Bob Akin took
top honors in Group 3 with his '59 Cooper Monaco. The final race of the
weekend, Group 4, was taken by the '70 Royale RP-4 of Asa Candler.
